Jester aka “Morse Code” is a talented allrounder with amazing good looks. He is an 13yo (9/9/08), 16.2 approx Sire - Niello, Dam - Autumn Belle (Lonhro/Octagonal) Type Jester is a lovely, athletic type with a super impressive front end and elegant shaped neck. He sits naturally in a beautiful frame and definitely has an extra special presence. Temperament We have found Jester to be easy to handle most of the time. He can occasionally be a little nervous or impatient but is generally well-behaved and straight forward. He is very affectionate and loves attention. He has been super quiet here, the first time we took him trail riding he was a little excited but has been perfect every other ride on the arena and out since. He is easy to catch, shoe, float etc but has required some sedation for the dentist in the past. Prior Experience Jester has been off the track since 2013 and has extensive pony club, competition, trail riding and showing experience. He competed up to Grade 3 pony club and D Grade Show jumping with his original owner. He was then purchased by his current owner (young rider) who brought him back into work after a 6 month spell in 2019. She has been training Grade 2 and schooling up to 1m but hasn’t competed heaps at this level due to COVID restrictions etc. Paces Jester has 3 super nice, regular, active paces with great swing in the trot. He feels very smooth and comfortable to ride. Good overtrack in walk with clear 4 beat rhythm. Clear 3-beat rhythm in the canter with lots of jump and super balanced. Dressage Training Rhythm - Easily maintains his own rhythm, you can soften the reins and he won’t get quicker. Easy to get forward but still kickable. Suppleness - He is supple, moves off each leg into the outside rein and willing to bend through the ribcage. Contact - He is very good in the contact, light but easy to keep steady and naturally goes in a frame. Doesn’t tend to get strong or on the forehand, carries himself in balance. Back - Willing to stretch over the back and easy to sit on. Laterals - basic laterals established, willing and supple enough to train further lateral work and move up the dressage levels. Impulsion - When making a half-halt he understands the basics of activating his hind leg and will step quicker. Straightness - doesn’t tend to fall in or out too much, further straightness and throughness required in the more complicated movements but easy for a novice rider to keep straight. Collection - Starting to collect in trot and canter, further strength and suppleness training required to progress to the next levels of collection. Level - Working at around Grade 2/novice level dressage Jumping As a jumper, Jester is super easy and fun to jump. He really excels in this phase with a bold attitude and super relaxed rhythm into and away from the fence. He is easy to see a distance on, and travels super consistently around a course of jumps. He has good technique over a fence making an especially good shape using his back and neck. He would make an outstanding eventer or show jumper and has potential to jump much bigger than 1m and be competitive at the bigger tracks with further training. Despite his talent he is straight forward enough for a confident junior to continue producing. He is being jumped by our 14yo working student in the video. Rider Suitability Although we have found Jester to be a pleasure to handle and ride, he is not suitable for a beginner or nervous rider. He would be an asset for an intermediate rider who is confident and looking to move up the levels and win lots of ribbons In eventing/SJ /PC/interschool but fancy enough to continue showing and pursue OTT dressage too. He would be best with someone who can keep him in some level of consistent work to bring out the best in him. He has a solid foundation of training and a good attitude towards learning so would progress up the ranks quickly with an ambitious rider. This horse shouldn’t be overlooked by competitors looking for a seriously classy allrounder with so much to offer. Located Nyora, VIC.
